The Thai Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment has placed new regulations on Phuket property developers.
Effective this autumn, buildings may not be constructed on slopes greater than a 35% grade. Previously, the threshold was 50%. Other requirements include a 70% green area for slopes with a 25% to 35% incline, and building height will be limited to 40 meters on elevations below 40 meters, and to six meters on elevations above 40 meters.
The regulations are intended to preserve the island’s scenic landscape and protect it from unregulated random development.
